95 Phonics Core Program® Earns Product Certification from Digital Promise for Research-Based Design

Lincolnshire, Illinois and Washington, DC – Group 95% LLC, the trusted source for comprehensive, proven literacy solutions, today announced its Basic Program 95 Phonics® has earned the Research-Based Design for Instructional Learning Products: Product Certification from Digital Promise. This product certification underscores 95 Percent Group’s reputation for providing schools with reliable, evidence-based literacy programs and serves as a rigorous and reliable signal to district and school leaders, educators and families at the search for products with a proven basis in learning research.

To achieve certification, 95 Percent Group submitted evidence to Digital Promise confirming the connection between the science of reading and the design of its 95 Phonics Core program. Additionally, the company has also demonstrated its commitment to making its strong research base clear and accessible to the public.

Grounded in the science of reading, the 95 Phonics Core Curriculum is a whole-class, Level 1 curriculum based on the 95 Percent Group’s structured teaching approach. Supporting explicit, structured phonics instruction for 30 minutes a day has been proven to accelerate reading skills and avoid gaps for students in K-3. Instruction is scope and sequence based with 25 lessons for kindergarten and 30 lessons for grades 1-3.

“There are over 8,000 products used in K-12 schools and less than 1% have earned this recognition,” said Rachel Schechter, Ph.D., Learning Experience Design (LXD) Researchwho helped prepare the application.

“Educators and researchers continue to uncover important insights into how people learn,” said Christina Luke Luna, Head of Learning, Pathways and Credentials at Digital Promise. “Digital Promise’s Research-Based Design Product Certification recognizes edtech products that incorporate learning research into their design and development. The Research-Based Design Product Certification uses a competency-based learning framework, developed in consultation with the Digital Promise Learner Variability Project Advisory Board, expert researchers in the field of life sciences. learning and nearly 50 educators across the United States.
