Brainstorming lists of alternative words and phrases are one of the strategies students use when researching online. Doing this before they start a search and/or whenever they feel stuck can help them generate new search results pages that don’t duplicate the results of their previous queries. But sometimes our brainstorming sessions need a little push. That’s when a tool like Keyword.io can be useful.
On Keyword.io, you can enter a search term and generate a list of related search terms for you. These are different and more comprehensive lists than Google’s default “people are also looking for…” suggestions.

It should be noted that Keyword.io is a service designed for search engine optimization and search engine marketing professionals. For this reason, you will see many advertisements for the purchase of marketing products offered by Keyword.io. You can skip these ads and just check out the generated listings for free. These lists can help you and your students find new search terms to use when searching online on Google, Bing, and elsewhere.
