South Taylor kids have a new playground for fun. The City of Taylor Parks and Recreation Department held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 26 to celebrate the recent completion of the Doak Park project, funded in part by a Texas Parks and Wildlife grant, funds from the Taylor Foundation Parks, a Valero Quality of Life grant, and city bond funds. “When I presented to council, this hallway in the city had no amenities,” Parks and Recreation Director Tyler Bybee said. “There was this park with two ball diamonds, but no playground, so for kids who lived in that southwest part of town, they had to cross the main highway to get to the playground, and now they don’t.”
