Stevens Point, Wisconsin-area public school district renews K-5 science education partnership

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — from Wisconsin Stevens Point Area Public School District today announced the renewal of its multi-year partnership with Discovery Education support K-5 science education. This ongoing collaboration ensures that students and teachers in K-5 grades across the district will continue to use the company’s award-winning system. Science of mystery service to deeply engage students in science education. The Stevens Point Area Public School District sits directly in central Wisconsin, covering more than four hundred square miles. After careful consideration of the district’s use and success with the Mystery Science department, school administrators have elected to renew for three additional years the partnership with Discovery Education which brings Mystery Science to Stevens Point K-5 grades. . In doing so, the district believes in leveraging students’ natural curiosity about the world around them to build the science foundation that will ensure future success in the subject in middle school, high school, and beyond.

Mystery Science, which joined the Discovery Education family of services in 2020 and recently won the SIIA Best Science Education Solution CODiE Award for K-8 students, provides K-5 educators with easy-to-use, open-ended, hands-on lessons that inspire students to love science. Each lesson begins with a question frequently asked by young students. Students then explore these questions through interactive videos featuring real-world visuals that foster a sense of wonder and actively support student engagement in the accompanying discussion prompts.

Then, students participate in hands-on, easy-to-prepare labs that use simple science supplies commonly found in classrooms or at home. Mystery Science has everything teachers need to engage students in hands-on science and make this subject the best class of the day.

Mystery Science simplifies teacher preparation, making it easy to incorporate this resource into classroom instruction. Additionally, all K-5 science lessons are now available in Spanish, with accompanying videos featuring authentic Spanish narration and on-screen Spanish text (for discussion questions, vocabulary and step-by-step instructions). Editable, ready-to-use worksheets and assessments are also available in English and Spanish.
