I’m taking a week off to do lots of fun things with my kids. During my absence, the most popular articles of the year will reappear.
I spend a lot of time talking to myself. I often do this while cycling. Sometimes I do it to motivate myself to get over a hill. Other times I do it because I’m solving a problem and talking to myself out loud helps, I think. All this to say that TED-Ed has a new lesson on talking to yourself.
Is it normal to talk to yourself? is a lesson in why we talk to each other and the effects of talking to each other. The main takeaways from the lesson are that positive self-talk can be good for you and negative self-talk is bad for you. This may seem obvious to many of us, but it’s a good reminder nonetheless. Watch the lesson here or as embedded below.
As I watched the lesson, I couldn’t help but think of Napoleon Hill You have to think to become rich which I read about ten years ago. The book emphasizes positive self-talk. Before you rush out to buy a copy, I should note that in recent years some of the book has been exposed as an event fabrication.
