With the changing scenario of the education system, India has reorganized itself over the years from traditional classroom education to online learning with the rise of Ed-tech start-ups that have disrupted the education sector. Given the relevance, the main goal is to enable better educational facilities and transform the learning atmosphere more experiential and focused on the actual application of concepts rather than the adoption of a traditional concept.
Recognizing this as the need of the hour, Dr Chandan Agarwal, an edupreneur and visionary from Bihar has established a cluster of schools in the state of Uttar Pradesh which has changed the structure of education in the ‘State. He is the Chairman of GD Goenka Public School, Kanpur which planned to develop model schools to bridge the growing education gap in India.
Expanding his vision to reach children of all ages, he founded GD Goenka Toddler House in Lucknow, La Petite Montessori in Kanpur and GD Goenka Montessori School in Kanpur under the renowned GD Goenka Trust of Delhi.
Dr. Agarwal, a Management graduate from Narsee Monjee University, Mumbai, who was also honored with a Ph.D. degree from the International University of America in London, said, “A leader is one who knows the way, follows the way and shows the way. Education is the fundamental pillar of any society and therefore it requires a careful and determined allocation of resources that aims to strengthen the foundations of literacy in a society”.
“The responsibility for making education accessible to every nook and corner of the country, whether through physical classes or online courses, rests with all three levels of governing bodies. The most appropriate way to teach modern-day students is to initiate a relationship between teachers and students that goes beyond the traditional role of teachers. A healthy relationship with the teacher makes the student comfortable asking doubts and increases curiosity, which is at the heart of our group of schools. Moreover, we are also equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology and provide a healthy learning environment for students through its smart digital classrooms, sports and extracurricular halls, fully air-conditioned facilities, a world-class cafeteria, a school practice safe and an extensive international library,” he added.
Dr. Agarwal is also a well-known humanitarian who has been recognized for his selfless efforts towards the betterment of society. He believes that education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial or religious background. Along the same lines, he has adopted ten girls under the banner of the Sarthak Foundation, Lucknow, and oversees their education and medical expenses. Moreover, every year, ten underprivileged children are provided with free education, accommodation and medical facilities at GD Goenka hostel in Kanpur. Recently, 35 students from GD Goenka School also had the opportunity to interact with the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, where the students discussed with her the current education system of India.
Believing in his leadership approach, the famous GD Goenka Trust continues to be inspired by his vision. His innovative approach to teaching has become a living testimony to the transformation of the country’s educational landscape and his indomitable role in the constructive revolution of the country’s youth.
